Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, opened today a temporary exhibition in the Museum's Egyptian Textile Hall titled "Let There Be Light - Glimpses of Christian Arts in Egypt."

Coptic arts are represented in the exhibition, including metal and wooden artifacts and models, ceramics, pottery, and items used in church rituals and monasteries in Egypt.

During the opening ceremony, Dr. Ghoneim was accompanied by Dr. Maysarah Abdullah, Executive Vice President of the Museum Authority for Archaeological Affairs.

The Central Exhibition Hall [Main Hall] of NMEC contains nearly 1,600 artifacts that give an integrated idea of the Egyptian civilization and its most important achievements throughout its different eras, starting from prehistoric times through the Pharaonic, Greco-Roman, Coptic and Islamic eras up to the modern and contemporary ages.

This is in addition to showcasing the Egyptian folklore.

The Royal Mummies Hall include a jewelry set that was designed in the ancient Egyptian era at the highest level of expertise, a group of deities, the war chariot of King Thutmose,  3,000-year-old prosthesis, surgery tools, water and solar clock, a 30,000-year old skeleton, and many more intriguing artifacts.
