Dessil Mekhtigian's FROM THE WORK OF THE DEVIL is scheduled to screen at the Yerevan International Film Festival's 20th edition — which will be running from July 9th to the 16th — where it will be competing in its Apricot Stone Section.

In a statement, Dessil Mekhtigian expressed her pride and gratitude for the selection of her latest work to compete for a Golden Apricot. Mekhtigian, who has Armenian roots, described the film as a personal journey that brought her back to her home country for the first time.

“I am very proud and touched that my film is in competition at a festival in my motherland," Mekhtigian said. "This film was made in search of my roots and I am overwhelmed with joy for the chance to go back to my home country for the first time.”

Produced by Karim Mekhtigian, FROM THE WORK OF THE DEVIL stars Dessil Mekhtigian, Ali El-Sabh, Maria Saba, and Lala Shamamian.

FROM THE WORK OF THE DEVIL — which held its world premiere at the 44th edition of the Cairo International Film Festival, where it was warmly received — follows A young woman who returns to Cairo after 10 years to organize an exhibition on Armenian photographers and realizes why she really came back amid the preparations as her family, her past, and the city of Cairo begin to take hold of her.
