CAIRO – 28 April 2022: Chiswick Auctions, in the British capital London, is preparing to put the first edition of the complete collection of James Bond novels for sale at auction, at a price ranging between £40,000 and £60,000.
The complete 1st edition collection of James Bond novels consists of 14 novels. It was written by Ian Fleming, who was the foreign director of the Daily Express newspapers in London at the time. He took one vacation after the other to write the novels from 1953 until 1964.
It is known that Ian Fleming was a British writer and journalist, in addition to having been a naval officer in World War II. He is best known for being the author of the James Bond series of novels, as well as the children's story “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”.
During World War II, Ian Fleming served in British naval intelligence, which inspired him to write the James Bond series.
After Fleming's death, Kingsley Amis, who wrote one novel, "Colonel Sun," took over the authorship of the novels, followed by John Gardner, who wrote 14 continuation novels and novelizations of the films “License to Kill" (1989) and “Golden Eye” (1995).
Gardner was followed by Raymond Benson, the American who wrote six novels; and Charlie Higson, who was tasked with writing novels about the young James Bond, and wrote four novels.
