CAIRO – 13 April 2022: Egypt’s Minsiter of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem, Director General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) Salem bin Mohammad Al-Malik, Governor of Giza Ahmed Rashid and Head of the General Egyptian Book Organization Haitham el-Hag Ali inaugurated the activities of the 10th Faisal Book Fair.

 

 

 

 

The 10th Faisal Book Fair coincides with the celebrations of choosing Cairo as the capital of culture for the Islamic world in 2022.

 

 

 

 

Abdel Dayem stated that the Faisal Book Fair has become a major annual event for the people of Giza Governorate. It embodies the continued implementation of steps aimed at spreading enlightenment and achieving cultural justice.

 

 

 

 

In order to develop its events, the 10th Faisal Book Fair will witness the establishment of a special corner for VR glasses to present children's stories, in addition to the initiative suite “Your Culture is Your Book”, which offers books at a reduced price, starting from L.E 1 to L.E 20. The people of Giza were invited to visit the fair and take advantage of the available knowledge and insight through the accompanying initiatives and workshops.

 

 

 

 

As part of the celebrations of choosing Cairo as the capital of culture for the Islamic world in 2022, the Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem inspected an exhibition of rare historical documents that narrate part of the biography of the ancient city, prepared by the General Authority of the National Library and Archives.

 

 

 

 

It is noteworthy that the 10th Faisal Book Fair runs until the 21st of Ramadan and opens its doors daily to the public from 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

 

 

 

 

It is held on an area of 3000 square meters and includes 33 publishers, including the various sectors of the Ministry of Culture, the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, the Ministry of Endowments and the Dar Al-Maaref Foundation, Azbakeya Wall (two libraries), in addition to a number of private publishing houses.

 

 

 

 

It includes the latest publications of the General Egyptian Book Authority in various fields and series, accompanied by a variety of cultural and artistic activities
