Egypt’s Ministry of Culture announces Egypt's participation in Sharjah, Tunisia Book Fairs

CAIRO – 6 October 2021: Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem agreed to the participation of the General Egyptian Book Organization in the Sharjah International Book Fair in the United Arab Emirates from November 1 to 15.

Abdel Dayem also agreed to the organization’s participation in the Tunis International Book Fair set to be held from November 10 to 23, as part of the activities of the Egyptian-Tunisian Cultural Year 2021-2022.

Furthermore, Abdel Dayem said that the Egyptian participation in international book fairs is part of the Egyptian state's strategy aimed at establishing a convergence point of cultures and a dialogue between civilizations. She explained that books are one of the tools of knowledge and one of the most important elements of the Egyptian soft power.

Abdel Dayem further pointed out to the importance of cultural exchange in shaping human awareness and conscience, and consolidating relations between different peoples.

The 40th Sharjah International Book Fair [SIBF] will be launched in the United Arab Emirates on November 3 under the slogan “There Is Always a Right Book”, with the participation of major Arab and foreign writers and publishing houses from around the world.

Spain is the guest of honor for this year's edition, as it participates with a large delegation of publishers, authors and translators, and presents a diverse program that includes intellectual seminars, exhibitions of visual arts and musical performances.

It is noteworthy that the director of the 36th Tunis International Book Fair, Mabrouk Al-Mannai, had announced that the new date of the 36th edition is scheduled for November 12-21, after it was postponed on two successive occasions due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Mannai stated that numerous activities have been dedicated to celebrate the Mauritanian manuscripts by displaying a precious and rare part of them to the public to introduce them to the history of writing throughout the ages.
