CAIRO - 16 January 2020: The Central Bank of Egypt denied reports circulated on social media on the presence counterfeit paper banknotes from the category of 200 EGP traded in the markets, asserting that there is continued coordination with the Ministry of Interior and Public Money Investigation to combat any attempts to distribute fake banknotes.

In a statement released on Thursday, CBE said all phases of producing banknotes are carried out according to the latest technological means and are printed with advanced security processes.

The statement urged media and social networks to be accurate in reporting news about the Egyptian currency and to contact the concerned bodies to verify fabricated information.
