UNIDO: Partnership program with Egypt serves sustainable development

CAIRO - 18 December 2019: Director of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Li Yong expressed on Wednesday the organization's commitment to its partnership program with Egypt and keenness on pushing forward the country's industrial sector which is key to achieving the national sustainable development and digital transformation goals.

During a meeting with head of the Federation of Egyptian Industries Mohamed Zaki Suwaidi, the UNIDO official said the organization is keen on supporting the private sector to serve this purpose through the partnership program, that will start with Egypt in 2020.

He expressed happiness over taking part in the World Youth Forum 2019.

Suwaidi praised the Egyptian government's quick response to the suggestions offered by the federation as regards carrying out some reforms to boost the national industry.

He noted that the federation presents a reform paper to the government every six months.

He referred to the role played by the private sector with the Education Ministry to convert technical education schools to schools of applied technology.
