CAIRO – 12 June 2017: The sixth German-Egyptian Joint Economic Committee kicked off Monday in Berlin, with the attendance of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.

The committee is also attended by the German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Brigitte Zypries and a number of key German companies, and the Egyptian Minister of Industry Tarek Kabil.

Before the conference, Sisi met Zypries where they discussed economic cooperation and methods of boosting bilateral trade between both countries.

During the conference, head of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce Ahmed El-Wakil gave a speech about economic reform measures in Egypt.

“We have plenty of investment opportunities in major projects and the trade, industry, services and infrastructure sectors,” Wakil said, stressing that Egypt’s domestic market is supported by a number free trade agreements.

President Sisi’s attendance comes in response to German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s invitation, issued during her March visit to Cairo in recognition of Egypt’s ability as a regional powerbroker to promote collaboration in all fields between African countries and the G20 forum.
