Four main aspects of state expenditure in draft budget

CAIRO - 28 April 2019: The FY2019/2020 draft budget presented by the government to the House of Representatives indicates that the four main aspects of expenditure will be debt service, subsidies and social protection, salaries, and non-financial assets purchases.

The draft budget demonstrates that the state expenditure will be LE1.424 trillion recording an increase of 10.6 percent compared to the current fiscal year. That is equivalent to 25.6 percent of the GDP.

The values of the aforementioned aspects are as follows from the highest to the lowest:

The value of the debt service will be LE569.1 billion with an increase of LE28 billion composing 36.2 percent of the total expenditure.

The value of subsidies and social protection will be LE327.7 billion with a decrease of LE592 million composing 20.8 percent of the total expenditure.

The value of salaries will be LE301.1 billion with an increase of LE31.25 billion composing 19.1 percent of the total expenditure.

The value of non-financial assets purchases will be LE211.3 billion with an increase of LE62.7 billion composing 13.4 percent of the total expenditure.
