CAIRO - 26 November 2018: Planning Minister Hala el Said said Egypt witnesses the most important stage of digital transformation, thus paving the ground for knowledge economy.

All state institutions are cooperating to realize digital transformation, she said on Monday during a session held within the framework of Cairo ICT which kicked off yesterday under the slogan "Driving Transformation."

She expounded that knowledge economy helps the state to realize a quantum leap in offering services and paves the way for local economy to merge with global economy.

She attributed the progress Egypt is achieving to the efforts being exerted to realize economic reforms, citing the positive economic indicators.

She stressed the ministry's keenness to take part in the annual Cairo ICT which showcases up-to-date technologies.

The planning minister reviewed the challenges facing digital economy in the Arab region, referring to the poor infrastructure, high internet prices and lack of people's confidence in e-transactions.

She said the ministry mapped out governmental services and took tangible steps to realize digital transformation.

She said the ministry played a role in activating the Egyptian Government Services Portal, noting that the fourth stage of developing the portal to include more services will be launched in December.

She added that there is an Egov Portal Application for mobile phones.
