President Sisi during his meeting with Visa International's officials
CAIRO – 4 April 2018: Egypt seeks to enhance cooperation with the digital payment company Visa International and to increase its investments in Egypt, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi said Wednesday.
This came during Sisi’s meeting with the CEO of Visa International Alfred Kelly and several senior company officials.
Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said that the president referred to the government’s efforts in upgrading the system of financial services, which will help encourage investment and stimulate the economy.
The president said the government is working to achieve financial inclusion for its positive impact on merging different segments of the society into the financial services system.
Kelly expressed his company’s keenness to work with Egypt on establishing the foundations of the digital economy and achieving financial inclusion, saying that the digital payment technology is an important tool to achieve economic development.
Kelly further praised the investment climate in Egypt, which reflects the government’s direction towards development, he said.
The meeting touched on discussing means of cooperation with Visa in implementing Egypt’s strategy to transform into a digital economy.
