CAIRO - 12 February 2018: The communication sector is one of the basic pillars in achieving the goals of Egypt’s sustainable development vision 2030, communication minister Yasser el Qadi said Sunday.
The vision goals are consistent with the 17 objectives of sustainable development launched by the UN in 2016, Qadi said addressing a ministerial session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for West Asia (ESCWA) and the World Government Summit, currently held in Dubai.
Qadi said Egypt’s vision 2030 targets increasing the share of communication sector within the GDP to 8 percent compared to 3.5 percent currently.
Planning Minister Hala el Saeed also took part in the ministerial session.
Attending this year’s summit are Jim Yong Kim, the 12th president of the World Bank, Christine Lagarde, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Trade Organization Director General Roberto Azevedo Audrey Azoulay along with other high-level dignitaries.
More than 130 speakers across 120 interactive sessions and over 4,000 participants from 140 countries, including heads of government and representatives of 16 international organizations, are taking part in the event at Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai.
