CAIRO – 25 October 2017: Supply and Internal Trade Minister Ali Moselhi said that the storage capacity for wheat in Egypt reached 4.1 million tons via the Egyptian Holding Company for Silos and Storage and the silos firms.

The private sector has a storage capacity reaching 12.3 million tons, he added.

During his speech before the International Association of Operative Millers (IAOM) conference held in Dubai, the minister underlined that the cabinet seeks to reduce wheat loss via resuming the modern silos network and upgrading old stores.

He further reiterated that the state seeks rationalizing local consumption to decrease wheat exporting rates through developing the smart cards system which contributes to the delivery of the subsidy to those who deserve it.

The minister also underscored that the state works on increasing the plots of land cultivated with strategic crops, according to a statement issued by the Supply Ministry on Wednesday.
