CAIRO - 6 September 2017: The Cabinet under Prime Minister Sherif Ismail approved Wednesday a presidential bill whereby Egypt would join the International Olive Oil Agreement, endorsed in Geneva on October 9, 2015.

The 2005 agreement replaced the previous one that took effect as of 2005, the Cabinet said in a Wednesday statement.

The agreement provisions are applied by the International Olive Council, which comprises countries producing about 98 percent of oil across the world, it added.

The council also supports several olive-related projects financially and technically, and facilitates export among member states, read the statement.
