CAIRO – 26 August 2017: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi will visit Vietnam after attending the BRICS summit which will be held from September 3-5 in China. This is the first presidential visit in the history of both countries, and its goal is to reinforce bilateral relations.

Egypt and Vietnam have been trade partners as the latter imports chemicals, honey, petroleum products, dairy products and textiles from Egypt at a value of $ 8.7 million annually.

Egyptian imports from Vietnam amount to $ 221.3 million per year and include fish, sea food, textiles, clothing, mobile phones, equipment, spare parts, and vehicles, according to Al-Masry Al-Youm.

Egypt and Vietnam are both lower-middle income countries with a population surpassing 90 million.

On Wednesday, the Minister of Investment Sahar Nasr and the chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Mohab Mamesh met with the Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân, and the CEOs of Vietnamese companies to display investment opportunities in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone).
