Ahmed Fouad, head of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Committee at Federation of Egyptian Banks
CAIRO - 14 April 2026: The Board of Directors of the Federation of Egyptian Banks, chaired by Mohamed El-Etreby, has approved the appointment of Ahmed Fouad as Chairman of its Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Committee, in a step aimed at further strengthening the governance and effectiveness of the federation’s specialized committees.
The move reflects the federation’s ongoing strategy to build on recent progress in SME development initiatives and to enhance the banking sector’s role in financing small and medium-sized enterprises, which remain a key pillar of Egypt’s economic growth and employment generation agenda.
Fouad serves as Head of SME Banking at QNB Egypt, where he has built a strong track record in credit management, corporate lending, and SME portfolio development. He is widely recognized in the banking sector for his extensive experience spanning more than two decades.
Over the course of his career, he has held several leadership positions across banking operations, managing diversified credit portfolios and contributing to the development of risk frameworks and growth strategies within commercial banking.
He has also been actively involved in the federation’s SME Committee activities, previously serving as part of its technical secretariat for over four years. In that capacity, he contributed to policy discussions, industry coordination, and the exchange of expertise among Egyptian banks.
Fouad’s professional background includes multiple international banking certifications and participation in leadership development programs, in addition to frequent engagement in industry conferences and workshops both locally and abroad. He has received recognition on several occasions for his contributions to SME banking development in Egypt.
The appointment aligns with the federation’s broader efforts to modernize banking practices and expand SME financing, supporting financial inclusion and strengthening the role of small businesses in driving sustainable economic development.
