The country’s strategy focuses on modernizing ports and improving competitiveness to meet global market demands, the Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) announced in a new video.

A major part of this vision is the Tahya Misr multipurpose terminal at Alexandria Port, one of the largest maritime transport projects recently completed.

The facility operates with an advanced electronic system that has reduced container processing times to just 25 minutes, a record unmatched by any other Egyptian port, according to Admiral Abdelkader Darwish, Chairman of the Egyptian Group for Multipurpose Terminals.

The terminal began trial operations in early 2023, following 30 months of continuous development since mid-2020.

In January 2024, the station launched cargo rail services, linking Alexandria to the Sixth of October Dry Port, boosting transport capacity and efficiency.

Admiral Ahmed Hawash, Chairman of Alexandria Port Authority, praised the terminal’s role in increasing cargo handling capacity and trade flow.

The station operates with cutting-edge automation, minimizing human intervention from container unloading to final shipment.

Alessandro Perotti, Head of Maintenance at the terminal, commended Egypt’s commitment to international best practices, praising the workers' eagerness to adopt global expertise in logistics and operations.
