Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdel Aaty - file
CAIRO - 19 February 2025: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty made a phone call Tuesday, with George Georgiev, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, where they both discussed ways to enhance cooperation between both countries.
Both ministers talked boosting cooperatoin in various fields of common interest, especially in the fields of economy, trade and investment.
Minister Abdelatty expressed his aspiration for Bulgaria to support Egyptian interests within the European Union institutions, including approving the disbursement of the second tranche of the European support package worth 4 billion euros.
The two sides expressed their aspiration to continue joint work to enhance bilateral relations, by intensifying official visits and activating various cooperation mechanisms, and arranging to hold the political consultation mechanism between the foreign ministries of the two countries, and the second session of the Economic Cooperation Committee between the two countries in Cairo, and the Joint Cooperation Committee in Sofia, which contributes to achieving further rapprochement between the two friendly peoples.
Minister Abdel Aati also discussed with his Bulgarian counterpart regional developments of common interest, where they exchanged views on developments in the Gaza Strip. He stressed that Egypt is developing a comprehensive, multi-stage vision for early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza, expressing his hope that the international community and the European Union countries will support Egypt's efforts. In conclusion, they agreed on the importance of continuing consultation and coordination between the two countries in regional and international forums, in a way that serves common interests and enhances regional stability.
