Trade between Egypt and Spain amounted to $3.1 billion in 2024, reflecting a slight decline from $3.2 billion in 2023, according to data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
While Egypt’s exports to Spain dropped to $1.5 billion in 2024, down from $1.6 billion the previous year, imports from Spain saw an increase, rising to $1.6 billion compared to $1.5 billion in 2023.
Egypt’s exports to Spain in 2024 spanned a variety of industrial and agricultural goods. Iron and steel recorded the highest export value, totaling $227 million.
Fertilizers followed with $195 million, while ready-made garments contributed $173 million. Vegetables and fruits were also among Egypt’s top exports to Spain, amounting to $120 million, alongside plastics and plastic products, which reached $115 million.
On the other hand, Egypt’s imports from Spain covered key commodities, with copper and copper products leading the list at $239 million. Mineral fuels, oils, and related products followed, reaching $188 million, reflecting Egypt’s energy needs.
The country also imported pharmaceutical products worth $168 million, as well as boilers, machinery, and mechanical appliances, which totaled $133 million. Additionally, cars, tractors, and motorcycles were among the major imports from Spain, amounting to $81 million.
Investment relations between Egypt and Spain experienced some fluctuations. Spanish investments in Egypt dropped to $123 million in FY2023/2024, down from $161 million in the previous fiscal year.
Similarly, Egyptian investments in Spain declined slightly to $61.9 million in FY2023/2024, compared to $63 million in FY2022/2023.
Despite minor shifts in trade and investment, Egypt and Spain continue to maintain strong economic ties, with both countries exchanging a wide range of goods and investments across multiple sectors.
