Cairo – October 1, 2024: African startups left this year’s Global Startup Awards (GSA) finals with 4 awards, including an Egyptian startup, celebrated for their vision, resilience, and contributions to advancing technology and entrepreneurship on a global scale.
The Global Grand Finale of the Global Startup Awards concluded on the 25th of September 2024, with remarkable success. 15 African innovators, previously announced as Continental Winners in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, competed with the best startups from +120 countries for the global title.
This year, the four African startups recognized were Freeziana from Egypt, which was awarded Founder of the Year (Hadeer Shalaby); South Africa’s MoMint as Best Web3.0 & AI Startup; Best Green Tech to BasiGo (Kenya); and TechBuzz Hub Uganda won Best Coworking Space.
“African innovators have earned their rightful place on the global stage. This increased visibility is essential for building investor confidence, attracting funding, and unlocking new opportunities for the winners. With 4 out of 12 awards returning to Africa, we couldn’t be prouder!,” said Jo Griffiths co-founder of GIIG and GSA Africa.

This year's competition witnessed receiving a remarkable +36,000 total number of nominations from across +120 countries, showcasing the immense global reach of this edition—an edition in which a record-breaking total of 340 000 votes were received.
