CAIRO - 8 April 2024: Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Amr Talaat, received Kim Young-hyun, Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea to Egypt, to discuss ways of cooperation between both Egypt and South Korea in the field of communications and information technology.
 
Both officials talked digital transformation, digital capacity building, artificial intelligence, and electronics design and manufacturing.
 
During the meeting, Dr. Amr Talaat expressed his aspiration to enhance cooperation between Egypt and South Korea in the field of communications and information technology. He also explained the state’s efforts to achieve digital transformation through a number of projects, including the Ahmose project, which aims to restructure procedures and applications in government agencies by digitizing the sectors providing citizen services.
 
Dr. Amr Talaat pointed out the keenness of the Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to expand the volume of investments of international companies operating in the electronics design and manufacturing industry in Egypt in light of the Egypt Manufactures Electronics strategy.
 
He pointed out the importance of strengthening joint cooperation in this field by holding intensive meetings between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and Korean companies specialized in the field of designing and manufacturing electronics, automotive technology, and integrated systems, to highlight investment opportunities in these fields in Egypt.
 
For his part, Kim Young-hyun, Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea to Egypt, pointed out that South Korea is a leading force in the field of communications and information technology, explaining that there are great opportunities for cooperation between Egypt and South Korea in the field of communications and information technology. He added that Egypt has distinguished digital cadres, just as South Korea has technology and innovation. In this context, Dr. Amr Talaat stressed the importance of academic cooperation between the Misr University of Informatics and Korean universities specialized in technological fields.
 
The Ambassador invited Dr. Amr Talaat to participate in a ministerial workshop in the field of communications and information technology within the activities of the Korea-Africa Summit Forum scheduled to be held in South Korea on the first of next June.
 
The two sides agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding between Egypt and South Korea in the field of communications and information technology.
 
The meeting was attended by Engineer Khaled Al-Attar, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Administrative Development, Digital Transformation and Mechanization, Engineer Ahmed Al-Zaher, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Authority, Engineer Sherine El-Gendy, Assistant Minister for Strategy and Implementation, and Ambassador Khaled Taha, Advisor to the Minister for International Relations.
 
On the Korean side, Sanghun Oh, advisor and head of the economic department at the Embassy of the Republic of South Korea in Egypt, Hyundo Yi, commercial attaché at the embassy, Jinyoung Kim, director of the Korean International Cooperation Agency in Egypt, and
