CAIRO - 12 February 2024: Philip Morris Egypt has decided to increase the prices of its cigarette products for the second time in about three months.

The price hike, ranging between LE 8 and LE 11 per pack, will be effective starting Monday, in response to rising production costs and the recent increase in the USD exchange rate against the Egyptian pound in the parallel market.

The cigarette market in Egypt faced a crisis of product shortages and sharp price increases in the unofficial market over the past year, prompting the government to intensify campaigns against law violators.

Here are the new prices and increases compared to November last year:
  • Merit pack: LE 85, an increase of LE 11.
  • Marlboro pack: LE 79, an increase of LE 10.
  • Marlboro Crafted pack: LE 69, an increase of LE 10.
  • L&M pack: LE 59, an increase of LE 9.
  • HEETS Selections pack: LE 64, an increase of LE 8.
  • HEETS Dimensions pack: LE 64, an increase of LE 8.
  • Terea pack: LE 64, an increase of LE 8.
