Bourse closes in the red ahead of 2023’s final MPC meeting

Cairo – December 21, 2023: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed its Thursday trading session in the red ahead of the CBE’s final monetary policy meeting of the year later today.

Benchmark index EGX 30 was down by 2.14 percent to end the session at 24,305.09 points.

EGX 70 inched downwards by 0.38 percent to 5,389.4 points, with EGX 100 dropping by 0.91 percent to close the session at 7,764.52 points.

Thursday trading saw 1.061 billion shares exchanged with a turnover of LE 3.666 billion.

Market capitalization was recorded at LE 1.666 trillion.

Trading on securities saw Egyptian traders as net sellers with LE 59.93 billion. Arab and foreign investors were net buyers with LE 57.66 billion and LE 2.26 billion, respectively.

The top gains of the session were by Asek Company for Mining – Ascom which climbed by 17.12 percent, Mohandes Insurance by 11.73 percent, and East Delta Flour Mills by 9.79 percent.

The largest losses of the session were by Credit Agricole Egypt which fell by 5.66 percent, Egyptian Media Production City by 5.47 percent, and International Agricultural Products by 5.13 percent.
