Egypt’s exports record a jump in 2022: Trade Ministry

CAIRO - 17 May 2023: The Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir reviewed Egypt’s exports 2022 numbers in France, Germany, Greece, Saudi Arabia, and Spain during a video conference with the heads of regional trade offices. He announced that Egypt’s exports saw a significant jump.

The minister added that trade exchange rates between Egypt and Greece increased during 2022 by 19.7 percent reaching 2 billion euros, pointing out that Egyptian exports to Greece achieved an unprecedented growth of 30 percent in 2022, reaching 1.67 billion euros.

The trade minister said that the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Germany in 2022 recorded almost 5.5 billion euros, and commodity exports to Germany passed the 1 billion euros mark last year for the first time.

The trade exchange rate between Egypt and Saudi Arabia increased during 2022 by 24 percent, reaching $5.6 billion and Egyptian exports to Saudi Arabia amounted to $2.6 billion.

Samir referred to the development of foreign trade indicators between Egypt and France, noting that Egyptian exports to France increased by 136 percent by the end of 2022, to record 2.1 billion euros. The Egyptian merchandise exports to the French market in 2022 recorded an increase of 54 percent recording 1.1 billion euros.
