Sisi receives message from Jordan's King for further coordination

CAIRO – 8 January 2020: Bisher Al-Khasawneh, the advisor to Jordan’s king for communication and coordination, handed a message from King Abdullah II to President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, affirming continuing coordination on different issues, the Presidency said in a statement.

Meeting with Sisi in Cairo on Wednesday, Al-Khasawneh handed the message that stressed keenness to continue intensive consultation with Egypt on various issues and to develop bilateral relations, in light of the special and strong ties between the two countries on all levels, and the importance of the Egyptian role in confronting mutual challenges facing the Arab nations.

The meeting discussed the latest regional developments, especially as the Gulf region and Libya have witnessed important incidents. The two sides agreed on the need to continue coordination to achieve de-escalation in the region, in order to ensure the security and safety of the Gulf.

They reviewed bilateral relations during the meeting, where they highlighted the importance of enhancing economic ties and increase trade exchange in a way that suits the level of political relations between the two countries.

In November, on the sidelines of the extraordinary session of the League of Arab State’s Council at the ministerial level in Cairo, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi.

The meeting tackled the bilateral relations and the regional and international issues of mutual concern, said Egyptian ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Ahmed Hafez in a statement.

Both minsters tackled the latest development of the Palestinian issue, particularly following the US decision of legalizing the Israeli settlement in the occupied West Bank, Hafez added.

“Shoukry affirmed in this regard Egypt’s stance of abiding by international resolutions and international law in connection with the status of Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank,” Hafez said.
