Turkey violates UNSC resolution, allows broadcast of MB channels: Complaint

CAIRO – 9 March 2019: The Arab European Forum for Human Rights and Development has filed an official complaint with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights against Muslim Brotherhood members Akram Kassab and Mohamed Nasser over “the incitement to terrorist acts motivated by extremism and fanaticism.”

“Following a fatwa by Kassab, the terrorist Hassan Abdullah detonated his house in Cairo at the moment of arrest on charges of planting explosives in Giza. The explosion endangered his neighbors and killed three security officers,” the complaint said.

The complaint was submitted by Ayman Nasry, head of the forum, within an aim to shed the light on the human rights situation in Egypt during the 40^th edition of the Human Rights Council.

The statement stressed the seriousness of the incitement of terrorist acts motivated by extremism and fanaticism, which poses a grave and growing threat to human rights, and endangers the social and economic development of all countries in addition to undermining global stability and prosperity.

“The state of Turkey has violated the text of the UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution no. 1373 by allowing such incitements on TV channels broadcasting from its grounds.” The complaint said. “The Security Council established a counter-terrorism committee, which called upon member states to take a number of measures to prevent terrorist activities and to criminalize various forms of terrorist acts including collaborating with each other in implementing international instruments against terrorism.”

Kassab announced during an Egyptian program presented by Mohammed al-Qudousi on Al-Sharq satellite channel, which broadcasts from Turkey without a license, that any person who explodes or detonates his house in the presence of national security forces is considered a martyr.
