Egypt's PM stresses importance of upgrading water management system

CAIRO - 17 October 2022: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli affirmed Thursday the importance of upgrading the water management system, along with improving services offered to citizens.

During a meeting Thursday with Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hany Swailem to follow up on a number of files concerning the ministry, the prime minister underscored the need for utilizing all technical potentials, with a view to ameliorating the State's water management plans, as well as maximizing water revenues that would help finalize all national projects, in line with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's directives in this regard.

Meantime, Madbouli highlighted the importance of completing all Decent Life (Haya Karima) 's projects within the framework of the set time table.

For his part, the minister of water resources and irrigation reviewed a number of files covering the executive status and work pace at a number of national projects including canal lining, facing up to rainfall, expansion in applying modern irrigation techniques and efforts to rationalize the use of underground water in the Eastern Desert.

Swailem also referred to his ministry's drive to further incorporate scientific research in all prospected ventures and up investments to best benefit from all of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation affiliated utilities.
