After co-starring in three major Hollywood films — United 93 (2006), The Kite Runner (2007) and Green Zone (2010) — Glasgow-born Egyptian actor Khalid Abdalla has recently wrapped up his first Egyptian film, Akher Ayyam Al-Madina (The Last Days of the City). It is the feature debut by director Tamer El-Said who has been acclaimed for several short films and documentaries like Youm El-Ethnin (Monday) and Charlie. Akher Ayyam Al-Madina takes place in Cairo, Baghdad and Beirut as told by the main character Khalid (played by Abdalla), a filmmaker who has lost his creativity as a result of being exposed to the chaotic nature of Downtown Cairo.
