CAIRO – 30 June 2017: Hospitals across Egypt have been put on “maximum alert” for celebrations marking the fourth anniversary of the June 30 Revolution, Minister of Health and Population Ahmed Emad El-Din Rady said Wednesday.

Following is a Q & A on the details of the preparations taken by the Ministry of Health to secure celebrations on June 30.

Q: When will the plans for securing the ceremonies be put into operation?
A: The preparedness plans will be put into operation from Wednesday through the end of the day on June 30.

Q: What are the highlights of the Ministry of Health plan to safeguard June 30 celebrations?

A: The plan includes: raising the state of alertness in all hospitals, preparing teams of intensive and urgent care physicians for rapid intervention and providing hospitals with central rapid deployment physicians.

Q: Have hospitals been provided with equipment and medical supplies for emergency cases?
A: Yes, they are provided with extra equipment and quantities of blood and the state of alertness has been raised at governorates' central operation rooms to cope with emergencies.

Q: Who is in charge of following up the medical security plan for the June 30 celebrations?
A: Dr. Khalid el-Khatib, head of the Emergency and Urgent Care Services Sector will follow up the implementation of the security plan.

Q: How many ambulances would be available across Egypt during securing the ceremonies?
A: Nationwide, 2,240 fully equipped ambulances will be available in public places including gardens and main squares of Egypt's governorates. Ten water ambulances and two helicopters will be available, too.

Q: Is there any coordination between the Health Ministry and university hospitals?
A: Yes, coordination is underway between university hospitals and the Urgent Services Centre 137 to receive emergency cases and make sure that hospital staff will be available at hospitals that day.

Q: What about coordination with the Poison Control Center in hospitals across Egypt?
A: A state of alertness has been already raised in the Poison Control Centers in all governorates of Egypt. Coordination between the centers and the Urgent Services Centre 137 has been activated.
