CAIRO – 28 August 2020: The Egyptian Space Agency (ESA) revealed that the agency is manufacturing a satellite for monitoring the borders.

In special remarks to Youm7, the newly appointed CEO of the agency Mohamed al-Qousi stated that the satellite manufacturing started six months ago and due to be launched from June to September in 2021.

He added that the agency is working on 22 projects right now, noting that the first phase of some projects is almost done.

On November 26, 2019, Egypt has successfully launched telecommunications satellite, Tiba-1, to space after postponing the launching twice due to technical procedures.

Tiba-1 s expected to provide and boost internet and telecommunication services across Egypt. Launching Tiba 1 will also contribute to developing health, education, and energy fields, not to mention improving services in government sectors across Egypt.

It is named after Thebes or Tiba in Arabic, an ancient Egyptian capital the ruins of which lie within the modern southern city of Luxor.
