CAIRO – 10 August 2020: The Lebanese President Michel Aoun accepted Monday the resignation of the cabinet headed by Prime Minister Hasan Diab amid rising public anger over the explosion that took place in Beirut Tuesday leaving more than 200 people dead.

In his resignation speech aired earlier today, Prime Minister Diab blamed the devastating explosion on the deeply-rooted corruption that is bigger than the state itself according to him.
Diab said that corruption is behind the explosives that were stored in Beirut’s port, asserting that cooperation is a must to pass the current tragedy.

President Aoun accepted the resignation and ordered to have the cabinet acting as a caretaker government for the present moment.
