CAIRO - 25 July 2020: Amid the tensions that the region goes through due to the Turkish ambitions in the Middle East, Egyptian on social media created hashtags supporting Egypt's foreign policy and its readiness to intervene to solve the Libyan crisis.

The hashtag # Egypt_100_ Million_Military (Egypt includes 100 million armed personnel.) tops Twitter on Saturday, showing Egyptians support the Egyptian army to intervene in Libya to protect the national security of the two countries.

Moreover, some Arabs also supported the Egyptian army to intervene in Libya in order to protect national security, even celebrities as well.

Many Arab and foreign countries have also supported Egypt's stance on the Libyan issue through its decision to enter the Egyptian armed forces in Libya to confront terrorism and extremism.

The United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and the United States supported Egypt's stance towards Libya while the Emirati foreign minister said in July 22, that the United Arab Emirates supports efforts of the international community to reach a political solution to the Libyan crisis and Egyptian “great” efforts in this regard, out of a belief that stability in a Libya is a pillar of Egyptian and national security to Egypt.

During a phone call with president Sisi June 10, U.S. president Trump welcomed the Egyptian efforts aiming at achieving political stability for the Libyan crises and to end the violent acts along with meeting the Libyans’ wishes and demands to live in peace and stability, Presidency spokesperson Bassam Rady stated.

Meanwhile, Bahraini Chairman of Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee at the Shura Council, Abdulaziz bin Abdulla Al-Ajman, announced Tuesday Bahrain’s support for the Egyptian Parliament's stance and its mandate to President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to intervene in Libya to prevent Turkish interference in Arab Affairs.

Ajman indicated that the decision came in line with the Libyan Parliament'sand tribal leaders' call for the necessity of an Egyptian armed intervention to protect Libya and its people from Turkey’s interference, according to Bahrain News Agency.

In the same context, Egyptian parties had supported political leadership decisions to send armed forces outside state borders such as Egyptian Freedom Party, Democratic Generation Party and The heads of the parties of the Alliance of Egyptian Parties.

Egyptian parties support political leadership's decisions to send armed forces outside state borders

CAIRO - 21 July 2020: The Egyptian Parliament unanimously approved the decision to send elements of the Egyptian armed forces on combat missions outside the borders of the Egyptian state to defend Egyptian national security in the western strategic borders against the actions of armed criminal militias and foreign terrorists.

On July 20, the Egyptian House of Representatives authorized President Sisi to “take the necessary measures” to protect national security, giving the president the green light to send troops to Libya.

This came in a closed session on protecting the Egyptian and Libyan national security against terror threats. The session was attended only by the Parliament members and the general secretariat of the House.

During his meeting with the tribal chiefs on July 16, Sisi said that any Egyptian military intervention in Libya may only take place upon a request by the Libyan people and permission from the Egyptian House.

According to Article 152 of the Egyptian constitution, the state has to seek the Parliament’s approval before declaring war or sending its forces in combat missions. The members attending the session are not authorized to disclose any details of the discussion inside this secret meeting.

Libya is suffering a severe division between two factions; the Libyan Parliament and the Libyan National Army (LNA) led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar in the east and the GNA led by Fayez Al-Sarraj. The latter is internationally recognized but is not accepted by the Parliament.

Hundreds were killed in continuous battles between the LNA and the forces of the GNA, over the past year.
