Egypt rejects any regional interference in Yemen: Prime Minister

CAIRO - 19 July 2020: Egypt affirmed its support for the Yemeni stability, unity and safety, rejecting any regional interference in Yemen, announced Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli in a press conference with his Yemeni counterpart Maeen Abdulmalik Saeed in Cairo on Sunday.

 

“Yemen's security is a national security for Egypt and the entire Arab nation [...] we offer great support for treating Yemeni citizens and for thousands of students in Egypt,” said Madbouli in his speech

 

Egypt appreciates the efforts exerted by Saudi Arabia to support the stability of Yemen, Madbouli said, adding that a Joint Higher Committee between Egypt and Yemen will be held soon.

 

The Yemeni Prime Minister called for Egypt's support in Yemeni the reconstruction works, stressing that Egyptian companies will have a major role in the reconstruction of Yemen.

 

Concerning the file of the controversial Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam(GERD), the Yemeni Prime Minister affirmed that his country stands fully with Egypt in its endeavor to find a just solution to the Renaissance dam file.

 

He added that Yemen rejects any measure that harms Egypt’s  water security and calls upon the parties 9Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia] not to take any unilateral steps.

 

Regarding the situation in Libya, Abdel Malek affirmed Yemen's full support for President Sisi’s initiative to resolve the Libyan crisis, and he rejected regional interventions in the Libyan affairs.
