CAIRO, May 2 (MENA) – A judge has ordered keeping a defendant in custody for 15 days pending investigations over using the name of the country’s prosecutor general to create a false Facebook account.

The defendant is charged with assuming the name of the top prosecutor to threaten persons and illegally seize their funds.

A statement issued by the Public Prosecution had said Prosecutor General Hamda El Sawi ordered keeping the defendant in custody after a citizen filed a complaint that he was in a dispute with other persons over the ownership of a shop and that he tried to complain to the top prosecutor through the Facebook then he searched and found an account in the name of the top prosecutor.

The statement added that the defendant asked for money on a bank account to end the dispute over the shop but the citizen found out that the Facebook account was false, a matter that prompted the prosecution to keep the defendant in custody.
