Egyptian, Romanian presidents coordinate efforts to fight coronavirus

CAIRO – 23 April 2020: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi discussed with his Romanian counterpart, Klaus Iohannis, the efforts to fight the coronavirus pandemic, the Egyptian Presidency said in a statement on Thursday.

More than 2.65 million people worldwide contracted the novel virus, according to Worldometers.

During a phone call, Sisi and Iohannis agreed to enhance cooperation through exchanging expertise and coordination between medical care departments in both countries, as part of the international efforts to curb the spread of coronavirus.

The two leaders also discussed cooperation between Egypt and Romania in various fields, including economy and trade exchange.

They also discussed a number of regional issues of mutual concern.

More than 185,000 people died of coronavirus, according to data published by Worldometers, while 729,873 people recovered, as the pandemic, which emerged from China’s Wuhan, has hit almost all countries.

Sisi: Egyptian-Romanian trade relations surpassed $1 billion in 2018

The Egyptian Ministry of Health announced Wednesday recording 169 new coronavirus cases and 12 deaths, raising the north African country’s total number of coronavirus cases to 3659 and deaths to 276.

All positive cases are placed under quarantine at isolation hospitals, the Ministry’s statement read.

The Ministry’s statement added that 65 of those infected with coronavirus, including two foreigners, were discharged from hospitals after receiving the necessary medical care. The total number of recoveries so far reached 935.
