CAIRO – 30 January 2020: Egypt’s national airline EgyptAir on Thursday announced suspending flights between Egypt and China, after the last Chinese delegation currently in Egypt departs on February 4th, amid an outbreak of a new deadly coronavirus.
Flights between Egypt and Hangzhou in eastern China will be suspended starting February 1st, while those to Beijing, the capital, and Guangzhou, northwest of Hong Kong will be suspended starting February 4th until further notice, to prevent the coronavirus (nCoV), which emerged in December last year, from entering the country, EgyptAir said in a statement.
Separately, an Egyptian Health Ministry spokesman said no cases of the new coronavirus have been recorded in Egypt, adding that it is ready to take all precautionary measures to prevent the deadly virus from entering the country.
Khaled Megahed stressed the readiness of all quarantine departments at the various entry points to the country. All travelers from the areas where the disease was reported undergo a medical inspection at the entry points, he said, adding that suspected cases would be immediate isolated.
He noted that those coming from China or any country that recorded cases become monitored by health institutions for 14 days.
The media center of the Egyptian Cabinet released on Thursday an infographic featuring the precautionary measures taken by the government to face corona virus, especially after it was reported in many world countries, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported.
The infographic points out the symptoms of the infectious disease, including headache, fever and breathing difficulties.
It showed some precautions against the killer virus, including keeping the hands clean and avoiding close contact with anyone who has fever and cough.
The infographic pointed out the steps taken by Egypt to face the virus, including raising state of alertness at all quarantines and hospitals and immediate isolation of any suspected case.
