CAIRO - 7 August 2019: After the announcement of Egypt's presidency of the African Union, the Egyptian government announced the main axes of priority for the African continent, said presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady on Tuesday.

During his phone call on Manshet channel, Rady added that the axes include economic integration, continental integration, economic and social development, institutional reform of the African union, cooperation with international friends of the African continent, and peace and security.

Rady added that Egypt has started working on these axes since the beginning of 2019 under the guidance of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, adding that Egypt has exerted great efforts in the political aspects of the Libyan and Sudanese crises as well as in the field of health. Egypt has launched a campaign to detect and treat 1 million Africans of Virus C.

"Egypt has provided with African countries great experience and presented many projects to connect electricity in many neighboring African countries," he said. Radi also highlighted the significance of Aswan Forum for Sustainable Development, which addresses the importance of peace, security and stability in the African continent and will be held in Aswan in December 2019.

He pointed out that the Egyptian government will follow up with the presidency of the next African Union to ensure the continuity of projects.
