CAIRO – 9 June 2017: Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain announced in a joint statement early on Friday that they have included 59 individuals and 12 organizations with ties to Qatar on their terrorism watch list.

Egypt Today gives you the details of the organizations that were placed on Egypt, KSA, UAE and Bahrain’s terrorist lists:

Qatar Charity

The entity is headed by Sheik Hamad Bin Nasser Bin Jassem al-Thani, a member of Al Qaeda terrorist group.

The organization conducts undercover funding operations in countries like Yemen and Syria. It is accused of giving out financial aids to groups linked to Al Qaeda terrorist group such as Al Nusra front in Syria, and other terrorist militias in Yemen. The organization is believed to adopt charity as a Camouflage to finance terrorism in the region. Qatar charity funded terrorism during 2016 by $500 billion.


Qatar Voluntary Center

It is a governmental institution established in 2001. It is supervised by the Minister of Culture. The center recruits young people under the guise of volunteering to support the Syrians, while they are used to smuggle weapons and provide logistical support for terrorist organizations.

In August 2013, the center has funded the Nusra Front in Syria upon a request from Abu Mohamed al-Julani, the leader of the Nusra Front, who called on the Qataris to donate to the terrorist organization. The center has 50 volunteers who participated in supporting terrorist groups in Syria.


The Foundation Sheikh Thani Ibn Abdullah for Humanitarian Services (Raf)

It is one of the foundations in Qatar concerned with humanitarian work for relief and social development, both locally and internationally. It was established in 1969.
The organization supports terrorist groups in Syria, mainly the Nusra Front. It has provided about $130m for the militants in Syria since the start of civil war.


Eid Charity - Qatar

Sheikh Eid Bin Mohammad Al Thani Charitable Foundation (Eid Charity) was founded in 1995. It is an independent nonprofit organization specialized in humanitarian aid and development assistance. The high-profile terrorist Abdul Rahman al-Nuaimi is one of the main founders of the organization. It board of directors includes Abdul Wahab al-Hamegani, a Yemeni terrorist wanted in America on charges of financing al-Qaeda.

The organization is associated with the Benevolence Coalition for Humanitarian Relief, headed by Sheikh Yousuf al-Qaradawi. About 90% of the organization's donations go to terrorists in Syria, Yemen, Libya and Mali. The organization provided medical treatment for the wounded militants from al-Qaeda and Islamic State in Doha.

Benghazi Defense Brigades – Libya
It is an Islamist Militia group formed in June 2016 to oppose Libyan National Army and Haftar forces in Benghazi. The group has a similar ideology with that of al Qaeda, with the majority of its fighters also aligned to the Shura Council of Benghazi Revolutionaries.
The group receives millions of dollars from Qatar and some officials in Libyan institutions indirectly.

Al Ashtar Brigades – Bahrain

A Shiite opposition movement in Bahrain established in 2012. It adopts radical tactics and shares the February 14 Movement's goal of bringing down the regime of Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa. Additionally, both groups follow the popular Shiite cleric Sheikh Isa Qassim -- whose followers also include more mainstream and nonviolent opposition groups such as Al Wefaq.

The two main leaders in the organization are Ahmed Yousef Sarhan, also known as Abu Muntazar, and Jassim Ahmad Abdullah, also known as Zulfiqar. They operate their activities from Iran and are involved in several terrorist cases, as well as the recruitment of a number of elements in Bahrain.
It was labeled a terrorist organization by the Bahraini government on 4 March 2014.

Coalition Youth of 14 Feb Revolution

It is a Bahraini Shiite youth group, named after the date of the beginning of Bahrain's uprising, and led by anonymous individuals who organize protests in the country since 2011.

The organization planned and carried out terrorist operations in several countries. It also smuggled weapons and trained militants abroad. The organization has a foreign branch located in London. This branch’s members travel between Iran, Iraq and Lebanon to receive financial support, weapons and training. It was labeled a terrorist organization by the Bahraini government on 4 March 2014.

The Popular Resistance Brigades (Saraya al-Muqawama al-Sha’biya)

Saraya al-Muqawama al-Sha’biya was listed by the government of Bahrain as a terrorist organization following the deadly March 3, 2014 bombing. The group has been operationally active and publishing its activities online since April 2012. They are also affiliated with one of the main anti-government protest groups, the February 14 Youth Coalition (which was also listed as a terrorist organization by the government of Bahrain).



Saraya Almokhtar - Bahrain
It is a Shiite Bahraini militant group that has claimed multiple attacks on Bahraini security forces since the end of 2013. The group also ties its activities to the cause of marginalized Shiite in eastern Saudi Arabia. The terrorist organization receives financial support from Qatar and Bahrain to destabilize Manama through terrorist operations in various parts of Bahrain.



Bahrain Freedom Movement – Bahrain
It is a London-based Bahraini opposition group and one of the oldest Shiite organizations in Bahrain. It has been operating over the past years from London, and it is headed by Said al-Shehabi. The terrorist organization was established in 1994.

Hezbollah Al-Hejaz
It is a militant organization operating in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain. It was founded in 1987 in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. It is outlawed in Saudi Arabia. On 25 June 1996, members of Saudi Hizballah carried out a terrorist attack on the Khobar Towers housing complex near Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
Its boldest move was in Bahrain when it planned and carried out a failed coup in December 1981.

Doha Apple
It is an internet and information technology services company. It is managed by Mohammed Al-Saktari, who is included on the terrorist list. The company holds campaigns to collect funds for al-Qaeda terrorists and provide technological solutions for al-Qaeda militants in Syria.
