CAIRO – 14 February 2019: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi headed to Germany on Thursday, Feb. 14 to participate in the 2019 Munich Security Conference (MSC 2019) due on Feb.15-16.

Sisi will speak at the conference about Egypt’s vision on the African affairs in accordance with the AU's Agenda 2063 and in light of Egypt's presidency of the African union, said presidential spokesperson Bassam Radi in a statement on Thursday.

Tana Forum for Security in African will hold an event with the African Union on the sidelines of the MSC 2019 to tackle “Peace and Integration in the Horn of Africa”, Tana announced on Wednesday.




President Sisi is set to be the first Arab president to give a speech at the conference on Saturday.


The conference will be attended by 35 leaders of states, 50 foreign and 30 defense ministers, according to MSC 2019 official website.

The three-day conference will discuss technology, cyber issues, energy, climate change, and European defense.

It is scheduled that President Sisi will meet German officials and politicians to discuss the bilateral relations, which saw a significant improvement.

The Egyptian- German relationship is getting much better. The numerous official German visits to Egypt reflect the Egyptian political stability,” Vice- President of the Landtag Brandenburg Dietmar Woidke assured.

On February 12, 2019, both countries inked a 250-million-dollar agreement to boost the Egyptian social and economic reform program.
