CAIRO - 22 November 2018: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli signed on Nov. 21 a protocol of cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Housing and the Nikki Beach global hotels.

"Today marks an important day for Egyptian tourism, especially New Alamein City, which aims to be one of the most important tourist destinations in the world," Minister of Tourism Rania al-Mashat stated.

On his part, Chairman and Managing Director of Nikki Beach, Gehad Bakhom, said that the company's decision regarding this project came after long studies, pointing out that New Alamein City is one of the few areas in the world that possess the qualifications to be a tourism hub.

On November 10, Mashat met in London with Chief Executive Officer for Thomas Cook Group Peter Fankhauser to discuss means of fostering relations and opening new markets for Egyptian tourism in China and Eastern Europe.

In a press release, the minister of tourism said that the meeting was attended by a number of leaderships in Thomas Cook Group, head of the Tourism Promotion Authority Ahmed Youssef and tourism advisor in London Amr el-Ezzaby.

Fankhauser said that many tourists wish to spend their vacation in Egypt especially in Luxor and Marsa Allam, stressing the importance of launching a direct flight to Sharm el-Sheikh.

The minister noted that there are a lot of opportunities for tourism investment in Egypt, and particularly in New Alamin that has been recently inaugurated by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, as well as other areas in the Red Sea region.

Mashat asserted that the government is paying great attention to tourism as one of the main pillars of Egypt's national economy. She noted that the ministry is cooperating and coordinating with the ministries of antiquities and civil aviation to develop the tourism sector.
