Housing Minister sentenced to dismissal, 1 year in prison

CAIRO - 17 May 2017: The Haram Misdemeanor Court ordered the dismissal of Housing Minister Mustafa Madbouly Wednesday for disobeying judicial ruling, sentencing him to one year in prison in absentia, and a 2 thousand EGP bail and a compensation of 30 thousand EGP ($ 1,655).

Azza Atwa, a Housing Ministry employee had filed a lawsuit over her arbitrary suspension by the minister; the court ruled in her favor. However, the minister failed to execute the court ruling to remove Atwa’s suspension.
