CAIRO – 16 March 2018: The Egyptian embassies in London, The Hague and Brussels opened doors to Egyptian embassies on Friday to cast their vote on the first day in the presidential elections for Egyptian expatriates.

Immigration Minister Nabila Makram praised on Friday the high turnout at the Egyptian embassies in Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Jordan.
In her statements to Extra News channel, Makram described the turnout in the three Arab countries as “delightful,” adding that the countries have provided facilities for Egyptian nationals to participate in the elections.
Consulates and embassies in different countries officially opened their doors on Friday at 9:00 a.m. local time in each country.
The Egyptian embassy in New Zealand was the first to open to the electorate, given an 11 hour time difference with Cairo.
Egyptians expatriates in Australia, Iraq, Iran, Qatar, Lebanon, Sudan, Bahrain, Paris, Rome, Germany, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Uzbekistan headed to polling stations in the early morning to choose between the current President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and Politician Moussa Mostafa Moussa to rule the country for the next four years.

Due to political unrest and a worsening security situation, the elections would not take place in three countries: Yemen, Syria and Libya.
An operation room has been launched to follow up on the voting process abroad, and it assured in a statement that it has not received any complaints thus far since the beginning of the three-day vote on Friday.

The National Election Authority (NEA) announces it will hold two press conferences on the voting process of Egyptians abroad at 3 p.m., and 9 p.m. Cairo Local time.
NEA head, Counselor Lashin Ibrahim calls on Egyptians all over the world to participate in the voting, to "determine the future of their country."
