Cairo-2 March 2017: Ethiopian security officials foiled planned attack on its massive Renaissance dam by 20 armed members of the insurgent, Eritrea-based group, Benishangul Peoples Liberation Movement, Associated Press reported Wednesday.

Zadig Abrha, deputy government spokesperson, told the state-affiliated Fana Broadcasting Corporate (FBC) that security officers killed 13 and the remaining 7 managed to run across into Sudan, which in turn, handed them over to the Ethiopian government.

Eritrea and Ethiopia have a two-decade long history of border conflicts.
