FM to leave for Abidjan to take part in (AU-EU) summit

CAIRO - 27 Nov. 2017: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will head to Ivorian capital, Abidjan on Tuesday to participate in the fifth African Union - European Union (AU-EU) summit that is set to take place on November 29-30, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said on Monday.

This year’s summit will be held under the theme “Investing in Youth for A Sustainable Future” to tackle a number of main axes related to the African youth’s issues and interests, Abu Zeid noted.

The Egyptian delegation will include representatives of the presidential program for qualifying youth upon a decision by Shoukry, to present the Egyptian experience in investing in the youth as well as the results of the World Youth Forum (WYF), Abu Zeid pointed out.

The Egyptian delegation is also scheduled to take part in a panel session set to be held on Nov 29 between the African youth and African as well as European leaders, Abu Zeid further said.

The summit will also take up the African- European cooperation in the fields of peace, security, challenges of combating terrorism and extremism and means to promote peaceful coexistence between the peoples of Africa and Europe, Abu Zeid added.
