CAIRO – 21 November 2017: Al-Azhar’s relief delegation arrived on Tuesday to Muslim Rohingya refugee camps in Cox's Bazar City in Bangladesh, preparing to distribute aid dispatched by the Muslim institute the following day.

The delegation inspected the area allocated for distributing the aid, which includes 10,000 food portions and 10,000 blankets in the first phase, while the second phase will include food, medical and shelter aid.

The aid comes as a part of the humanitarian, moral and relief support provided by Al-Azhar and the Muslim Council of Elders.

Meanwhile, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb will visit Muslim Rohingya camps in Bangladesh next week.

Bangladesh’s Cox's Bazar is suffering from an increased community of refugee camps, as there are tens of thousands of Rohingya refugees living in unstable climate conditions.

More than 600,000 Rohingya have fled to Bangladesh since late August, driven out by a military operation clearing them from the Buddhist majority Myanmar’s Rakhine state.
