CAIRO – 6 November 2017: Sharm El-Sheikh international hospital offers free-of-charge treatment during the seven-day World Youth Forum which kicked off on Sunday under the auspices of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.

“This is the only state-owned hospital in Sharm El-Sheikh and the largest one in South Sinai since it was established in 1997 to provide excellent treatment to tourists and Egyptians in Sharm El-Sheikh resorts,” said director of Sharm El-Sheikh hospital, Mohamed Dahi, to Egypt Today on Monday.

Dahi added that the hospital bed capacity was increased to embrace 25 beds during the WYF events compared to only five beds on ordinary occasions in coordination with the Health Ministry’s plan.

“The hospital offered free medical treatment to 37 WYF participants so far as they were suffering from severe exhaustion,” Dahi revealed.

He added that approximately 150 doctors were called to the hospital in Sharm El-Sheikh in coordination with universities of Cairo, Ain Shams and Azhar.

Around “50 ambulances are deployed at the WYF events’ locations, in addition to 102 in several sites spread over South Sinai governorate and they all offer free-of-charge treatment during the seven days of the conference,” Dahi stressed.

The World Youth Forum (WYF) held in Egypt from November 4 to 10 is taking place at a very challenging time as many issues across the globe are testing people’s ability and will to live in harmony together, including violence, terrorism, the rise of nationalism, the threat of fundamental values, social inequality and the increasing number of refugees.

Therefore, the forum creates a platform for young people, encouraging them to become thinkers and actors of development as well as contributing to changing deeply-rooted social stereotypes and misconceptions through dialogue.
