New York - 22 September 2017: Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed on Friday urged the UN to send an international mission to Burma and to establish safe zones in it under the supervision of the UN to ensure Rohingya minority are able to return to their homes in Myanmar.

She condemned planting mines on the Myanmar-Bangladesh border by Myanmar authorities to prevent fleeing Rohingya refugees from returning.

International assistance is sought to end Myanmar's campaign of "ethnic cleansing" that is causing a humanitarian emergency on the Myanmar-Bangladesh border while our authorities are struggling to cope", she said during participating in the 72nd United nations General assembly (UNGA) meetings.

About 400,000 Muslim Rohingya refugees have fled violence against them in Myanmar to Bangladesh since August 25.
