Sweden’s new ambassador to Egypt arrives in Cairo

CAIRO - 10 September 2017: Sweden’s new ambassador to Egypt Jan Thesleff arrived at Cairo International airport on Sunday, to take office after ambassador Charlotta Sparre ended her term.

Thesleff will meet with a number of Egyptian officials to get him started, and to review prospective mutual relations and cooperation.

Jan Thesleff served as Sweden’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Oman, Yemen and Kuwait since 2006. In 2012, Thesleff was named Sweden’s special representative for the Syrian Crisis, and was accredited in 2014, 2015 and 2016, respectively as Sweden’s ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Kuwait again, according to the Swedish embassy in Abu Dhabi.
