CAIRO - 9 September 2017: Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark’s Diocese cut the ribbon marking the opening of Pope Shenouda's library in Melbourne, Australia.

The Egyptian consulate in Australia also held a dinner in honor of the Pope, where the Pope gave a speech, stressing on the greatness of Egypt and the Ancient Pharaonic civilization, giving them credit for inventing the art of pillars, as well as inventing the obelisk.

Pope Tawadros II arrived on August 30 in Australia and his visit will continue until September 13. This was the second stop of his papal tour, which has already taken him to Japan. Upon their arrival, the Egyptian ambassador to Australia Mohamed Khairat and members of the Egyptian embassy welcomed them. During the visit, the pope will carry out several pastoral activities and inaugurate a number of service projects.
