CAIRO - 31 August 2017: The Egyptian Minister of Transportaion described the King Salman Bridge project as the biggest project to be executed on the planet, which will require many studies.

“The King Salman Bridge should be based on multiple studies, because it is the largest bridge project on Earth. The number of studies required are gigantic,” said Minister of Transportation Dr. Hisham Arafat to Youm7, citing his participation in the three-year “Salam” (Peace) Bridge project, which exceeded four years of study.

As the Japanese completed a large part of Salam Bridge project, as well as some Egyptian companies, Arafat thought the length of the project is minute compared to the King Salman Bridge project.

“Studies were made at the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, and the findings state that the depth of water is up to 700 meters and should be treated with caution. I am sure nothing can hold engineers’ creative thinking to solve this issue. They will rather think of a tunnel and not a bridge, and the studies will take about three years,” added Arafat during his interview with Al-Arabiya satellite channel.

The Minister of Transportation pointed out that the National Road Project is one of the quick gains that nourishes the national economy in many fields. He added that the state has completed 4,000 kilometers and is working on the second phase.

According to Arafat, this year will witness the completion of the regional Ring Road, which will connect all the governorates of Egypt. The Shubra-Benha Road has been completed, and a very small part is left to be finalized, allowing citizens to start using the road, which will solve a big dilemma.
